What to expect
- Participate in a live burn
- Learn prescribed burn techniques that you can use on your own land
- Learn about prescribed burn planning, burn permits, smoke management, fire weather, liability laws, and financial resources
- Use a drip torch and other tools of the trade
- Ask questions of experienced professionals
- Lunch will be provided
Requirements/ Who Should Apply:
- Ideal participants are landowners/ land managers with minimal to no prescribed fire experience.
- Participants are required to sign a hold-harmless liability disclosure/waiver on the day of the event.
- Participants must expect to be active part of the day walking on uneven ground and using/carrying tools.
- Participants must wear natural fiber (cotton, linen, silk, wool) pants and shirts. Leather boots are preferred. Participants are encouraged to bring eye protection and leather gloves.
- Participants are encouraged to bring a bandana, water bottle, and sunscreen.
